KCAP Architects&Planners is a Dutch office for architecture and urban design, based in Rotterdam, Zurich and Shanghai. The practice – founded by Kees Christiaanse in 1989 – prides itself on its integrated working methodology, a multidisciplinary and simultaneous engagement in themes, program, typology and context. KCAP’s central philosophy is a commitment to creating public spaces that enliven and rejuvenate inner-city areas. International recognition has been achieved with projects such as HafenCity in Hamburg (DE); the Perm Strategic Masterplan (RU); the London Legacy Framework (UK); NEO Brussels (BE); OZ Nature Urbaine Montpellier (FR); Europaallee Zurich (CH); and the Creative Gateway masterplan in Shenzhen. In addition, the Dutch projects Wijnhaveneiland and the Red Apple in Rotterdam and GWL district in Amsterdam have been widely acclaimed by professionals and public alike.
