feld72, Wien

feld72 - founded in 2002 - is an experimental architectural collective, based in Vienna, comprising Anne Catherine Fleith, Michael Obrist, Mario Paintner, Richard Scheich and Peter Zoderer. Bucking the conventional idea of architecture, the practice subverts the paradigm of conventional design with work that seeks to re-examine the potentialities of space within social situations. Within every aspect of their work they foster a culture of experimentation, researching and developing new strategies for clients who are tired of the usual urban clichés. There is no break between the theoretical and experimental. Their responses vary from object related planning (from design to large scale buildings) to urban investigations, masterplans and interventions. This methodology has won them a number of awards. Recently, they were among the ten finalists for the Chernikhov Prize awarded to the world's most innovative architects under the age of 44.
